Taking Steps: Day 14 – Push Past the Pain

This evening I decided to head home after work and walked 5.4 miles in about an hour.  At the half way mark, my route ended at the Whitestone Bridge and a very large body of water.  At that point I decided to turn around and go home.  It was the first time I had taken that route and the only thing I could think of was making it there.  Getting back was going to be on me, since I did not bring any money or a bus ticket with me on purpose, ensuring the only way for me to get home was with my own two feet.  By the time I got home, my back was stiff and my legs weren’t happy with me, but I got there all within the hour.

I’m also up way past my bedtime, but I wanted to finish going through my daily reads and be consistent with myself.   I know it’s not going to always be easy, but there is a sense of accomplishment once everything is done.

I state these things because despite what the media tells us, sometimes we need to get through the muck to get what we want, and sometimes it’s difficult.  Change in behavior and lifestyle are old locked in habits that sometimes need a complete overhaul, or at least a revision, but as they say, if you want something you’ve never had before, you have to do things you’ve never done before.
