Taking Steps: Day 19 – Blinders

If you ever look at a racehorse on a track, they usually have blinders on.  The blinders are generally used to keep the horse focused solely on what’s ahead of it, rather than get distracted by what’s around the them.  Sometimes people need blinders as well.  It can get very easy to be distracted by that which is around you, and generally, it’ll take you away from what’s important.

This coming from someone tackling several life issues at once.

…but I’m posting this, not about me, but about a few people I know who are going through some health issues.  Two in particular I know who are going through stage 4 cancer.  A lot of the times, the pain, or negative test results after strenuous treatments can dominate your mind.  Visiting one of these folks in the hospital, it’s not easy to think about healing, when your health care professionals are speaking death over you.  The only thing I can say is this, for the sake of your health and those who you love, do not, under any circumstances, focus on the pain, or the illness, or the negative test results.  Do not allow the enemy a foothold.  As I close, I ask you to pray for these two people.  One, a young man who is 23 years old and newly married, fighting cancer for a 2nd time, and the other a 37 year old woman, fighting her 3rd bout of cancer.  Both people are at stage 4.  In moments like this, we all need blinders to only focus on perfect health, to focus on a great future, and to celebrate the many healthy years to come.

When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
-Isaiah 59:19 (NKJV)
