Taking Steps – Day 2 – Physical Healing

Tonight I hosted a twitter party/chat on the social documentary “Hungry For Change” (2012) on my @janifer twitter account.  I had seen the film before, obvious to those who have read my blog, but this time I wanted to get some more out of it, so I decided to tweet some of the stuff I heard and share it with folks online.  I got some favorites and got some retweets, also got one or two comments.  I may have to do this again.

But to the important stuff.  This time around, I saw more of a connection of how your body tries to balance your health on a tightrope, basing it on what you’re feeding, if you’re stressed, your emotional level, and if it does not look or function the way it’s supposed to, there’s most likely a very good reason for it.  Stuff like that does not happen without a cause, because the damage to your body is surely the effect.  It also made me realize that I really need to do some more research on body detoxification.

While watching the film, there was a segment with the chef Jamie Oliver, who many of you would be familiar on the cooking channel.  He spoke at TED about how many people have no real understanding about food, and how we really need to teach children about it, especially about the dangers of sugar.

I watched it and tweeted some of the bits that caught my attention. This was the first time I saw the entire piece.  Having known people who, even in New York, are ignorant of anything that’s not “steak or potato”, going to far as being bias against anything not in either category, I understood what he was talking about.

Earlier in the day, I went over to WebMD and took a quick quiz on diet and exercise to see how much of it I actually knew and how much about it I thought I knew.  I scored something like a 71.  Although not great, it did illuminate some things I was not aware of.

I tried eating sensible today and I did work out a bit before heading out.  I also ate some breakfast, although admittedly, not the best kind.   I did have some pastries, which I really shouldn’t and for lunch I had some chicken katsu (which is Japanese for fried chicken breast).  I also had some white rice.  So I didn’t do very well in the diet department.

Tomorrow will be the road test.  That’s when I get paid, so that also means it will be my first week in my 6 month budget test period.   I have allocated myself funds for food the entire week.  How that will go will be interesting.  I will be relying on fresh produce, for the most part, however I have not decided if I’m going to include meat in the process.  I have mixed whole grains as well, so I should be pretty satiated.  I do want to eventually do a juice fast again, while I’m at it, however I don’t know how long I want to plan for and if that happens, budget wise, when will it be possible.  My only concern right now is looking into internal detoxification to help me be more effective in my physical healing journey.

Anyway, it’s almost 11PM, and I want to stay consistent with my bedtime.  I know this means no Live Band Karaoke at O’Flannagans, however, this is more important.

Cheers.
