Yuan Fin – The Documentary

I was blessed on my birthday last year to partner up with Colette Thompson, who, among other things, is the one who runs the Eastern branch of Harmony Sweeps, the national a cappella competition.  She has graciously taken up the position as my manager.

Through her suggestion, we have set up a show on April 22nd to reintroduce me to the industry.  Because this will be the first time I’ve done a show as myself and not as part of a group or as a guest, I’m putting together a documentary.  It will be the first time I’m taking lead in a full show in a long time and I wanted to see if it was possible to make those leaps, do those things, and come through it better, stronger, and wiser.

I’ve been blessed to have a great team of musicians: Terra Warman who has taken the mantle of musical director, keyboardist, and back-up singer, TJ Punchard, who is both my guitarist and back-up vocalist for this venture, Jeremiah Perecky, outside of being my drummer in this, is also my video editor for the documentary, and Jason Taylor, my kick ass bassist.  Some of the folks that have helped me film thus far are longtime friends Christine Joseph and Sabrina Porter, who have been great supporters over the years.  I’m also blessed to have Shoshanna Withers on board for styling and some filming.  This is the first time I really have a team behind me, and I’m feeling really grateful and blessed to have all of them with me.  This is the first time I’ve actually had a team of this size with me and I’m so humbled and thankful for each and every one of them.

So far we have a trailer up and running that Jeremiah put together:

It’s a mix of some old and new footage.  I’ve been filming some new content along the way, including the crazy one from New Year’s Day, shown below:

To follow more of what’s going on with the documentary, as well as some thoughts and past experiences, head to the website yuanfinthemovie.com, which is currently being worked on as we speak.

Hopefully I’ll be also updating this blog more often to keep you posted on what’s going on.  It’s going to be a great ride and I’m grateful and thankful for all of you who have stuck it out with me all these years to join me, and for those who have recently come aboard, we’re glad you can join us.

Happy 2015, everyone!
