Taking Steps: Day 28 – Faith Step 1

Had an impromtu call come in for a poker gig this evening.  I was nowhere near dressed for this.  It was happening in the city and I had to decide fast if I should do it.

Now, I know by faith, that if God called me to go there, he’d make sure I get paid to be there, so by faith, I went out during my lunch break to buy an outfit, which put me in the red.  So I went to the gig, mindful that whatever I earned that night, had to pay for the outfit it cost me to work that gig, otherwise, it would have been a negative gains event.

Most of the evening there were no tips, however I was determined to stay for the ending. It was a cash event, where folks were paying $300 to buy in, and $300 to rebuy, if they chose.  Every bathroom break I got, I told God, I was walking in faith and not by sight, and I was thankful that He was my source and that He would provide.

At the end, the winners did tip us, and ultimately I ended up earning back what I paid for in uniform cost, plus double that!

Now you may be wondering why God called me to deal poker tonight.  It most likely had to do with the conversations I had with some of the folks, or the fact that the event raised quite a sum of money for cancer research.  Whatever the reason, I trusted, I walked in faith, and I was rewarded.

Don’t think God doesn’t hear us, because he does.
