Taking Steps: Day 21 – What You Give, I Give To You

Something interesting happened during worship team practice today.  As we were singing one of the songs “You Are Worthy (of all the Honor)”, I watched as people were getting into it and losing themselves in the singing.  As I was actually hearing all of us in harmony singing this to God, I was mindful of the lyrics:

You are worthy of all the honor
Of all the glory of all the praise.

Suddenly, I sensed God saying “this is what I think of you”, and immediately, the music went from going to God, to it being redirected toward us.  It was the strangest thing.  This energy that I saw being sent to the heavens was now being redirected to us.  I could feel it.

It reminded me of times when I’ve given to people, and how, unexpectedly, the blessing found its way back to me, but better.  Or about the times I blessed others, and found the bigger blessing was the feeling or the thanks that I got from the person I blessed.  What you give, doesn’t always look like what you have given, however, it inevitably will be be given to you, in great measure.  Some people call it karma, some call it the 3 fold rule, as it’s listed in Luke 6:38 (NIV):

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
